Alliance nepal promotes sustainable solutions to world poverty and disparity through global partnerships in development, education, health, and service.
Each year, many Nepalese die or suffer unnecessarily due to lack of health education and access to adequate health care resources. The sick in the mountain regions or villages sometimes die long before a physician can even diagnose. Because of the poor transportation, patients often have to be hand-carried in bamboo baskets to the nearest health center, often many miles from their village.
Program places volunteers in health posts, sub health posts and health clinics. You work in either an urban or rural setting, providing primary care to locals in your specialty. Moreover, if you have doubts about whether your skills and talents are really needed in this part of the world, consider this: The doctor-patient ratio in Nepal is about 1 to 36,000. Particularly in rural areas, where much of the local people live, there is a desperate, chronic shortage of medical personnel and supplies. Medical school students’ activities will include things like following doctors on their rounds, exploring different treatments for simple ailments, providing physical therapy, and participating in vaccination programs. Of all of our programs, we are perhaps most proud of the Medical Volunteer Program and the invaluable contributions of independent-minded professionals like you. You will help to relieve the suffering of others, playing a critical role in the villages and towns where you’ll serve. Hello ,
You have the opportunity to participate in a variety of health, educational
and community aid programs. This will give you a chance to make an important
contribution to the people of Nepal. While doing so you will gain an in depth experience of the country and its culture that will stay with you the rest of your life.

LOCATION
The placements are available in Pokhara Valley, Pokhara and Chitwan, all of
which are near to the main city. The exact location of your placement is
finalized during the training where you will visit several potential
project sites. Project placement also takes into consideration:
- Your skills and preferences
- The needs and requirements of the orphanages and schools
- Seasonal weather patterns
All placements are very flexible giving you the opportunity to take some
time off and explore Nepal and some of the world famous attractions. Rafting on the Tibetan border, trekking the Annapurna circuit or Everest Base Camp, Himalayan river kayaking, a Royal tiger and elephant safari, or the longest free-fall bungee jump in the world are a few options.
|| PROGRAM REQUIREMENT
Volunteers for this program must have sound health.
Volunteers need to be independent, enthusiastic and adaptable. We do not ask for any formal qualifications from our volunteers. All we ask is that you have a genuine desire to help people and are committed to seeing the program through.
